My
work has an underlying theme of layers. Layers of experience shape us
all.
Other themes include tension and interdependence. There is
often a linear quality to my work.
Sometimes I paint, use plaster and canvas, draw with pen and ink, make
collections of found objects and everyday items, or a mixed media combination
of some or all of those things. Some of my work is quite transient or
ephemeral: over time, parts may become brittle or perish, they change,
disintegrate or decompose.
Layers of self are stored, forgotten or built upon, depending on the nature
of the experience and how it affects us. Over time, those layers may disintegrate
or decompose or merge into others and they make up the complexity of interwoven
intricate details of the nature of self.
I am a mother and teacher. I have been a resident at Redlees for 6 years
and have had my work shown in sole exhibitions and in group shows locally.
I have worked on community projects connected with Redlees and the Watermans
Arts Centre, Brentford.
