My work is a response to the world about me and how I navigate it through creating an internal narrative. Walking is an important part of my creative process; it stills my mind and connects me to the natural landscape. I use a sketchbook to record observations and thoughts, which I then develop to make small-scale 2D and relief drawings on paper and textile. These are my favoured media, together with charcoal, water-based paint and thread. I work slowly and intuitively, building layers of texture to create a story, always searching for that elusive sense of meaning.
My work is sustainable; where possible, I use repurposed materials or old stock.
