Phillipa Candy

My work explores the materiality of glass and the physical processes that form it, altering its inherent qualities to give a different perception. Working strictly in kiln formed glass I use fusing, casting and the addition of reactants to change the structure and appearance of the glass to create one off sculptural pieces. Inspired by texture, man-made and natural, visual and intangible, the work captures both recognisable and imagined elements. I am currently working on pieces that involve manipulating the glass by layering, fusing and shaping in the kiln, focusing on colour and form which is further enhanced by cold working.
